For Volunteer Providers

The Volunteering and Mentoring Team at the University of Chester aim to help students make the most of their time whilst studying through volunteer opportunities within the University and in the wider community.

By registering on this website, students can find volunteer opportunities, log their volunteer hours, track their progress and apply for our University of Chester Volunteering (UCV) awards.

Why register on the Volunteer Hub?

Part of the University's mission is to “provide all its students and staff with the education, skills, support and motivation to enable them to develop as confident world citizens and successfully to serve and improve the global communities within which they live and work”.

Recruiting a student volunteer from the University of Chester means that not only will you be giving students the opportunity to develop a range of skills but you will also be recruiting students who want to serve and improve the community around them.

We welcome any charity or other not-for-profit organisation who has volunteer opportunities that would be available to our students to set up an account with us. We have campuses in Chester and University Centres in both Warrington and Birkenhead for any in person activities, as well as a dedicated page for any activities that could be completed from home.

By registering with us we can support your volunteer recruitment through promotions and tailored support, including:

  • Access to your own provider account on our Volunteer Hub, which allows you to upload as many volunteer roles/opportunities as you have available long-term or one-off and manage any volunteer applications.
  • Direct promotion of your volunteer opportunities to students who use our Volunteer Hub. We currently have over 1,000 students accessing the Hub. Students can browse the opportunities available and receive weekly emails with information on any new opportunities that have been listed that meet their preferences.
  • We also host events during the year, including a Volunteer Fair in October, Student Volunteering Week in February, and an annual event to celebrate our student volunteers and providers near the end of the academic year. Providers who are registered with us will receive email notifications of any events and how they can get involved. We also run an annual Provider Information session, where our linked providers can hear more about our offer and share examples of good practice.
  • Each year we compile a list of Christmas and Summer opportunities to share with our students. We will provide you with plenty of notice should you wish to contribute to these opportunity lists.
  • We are able to promote your opportunities directly to academic departments that deliver courses which are relevant to your role(s).
  • You can partner with us for our Give it a Go programme of events. This is where we arrange for a group of student volunteers to come and volunteer with you for a day.
