Student Volunteering Week 2024!

Student Volunteering Week 2024 is a national week for Universities to celebrate Student Volunteers and all the excellent work they do. It is also an opportunity to encourage student's to partake in more volunteering.

*If you have recorded over 10 hours of volunteering by 1st February this academic year, keep an eye out for a thank you from us as part of Student Volunteering Week!

Monday 12th February 2024

Volunteer Team Pop-up

11am-1pm

Binks Foyer, Exton Park, Chester

Each month the team will be running pop ups in the Binks foyer, Exton Park. Come along for a chat with the team to learn more about volunteering and how you can get involved during your time at University. You can chat to us about anything related to volunteering, including:

Tuesday13th February 2024

Give it a Go – DIY dog toys CHESTER

12pm-2pm

The Hive SU, Exton Park, Chester

Join the Volunteering Team to spread some paws-itivity as we make some DIY dog toys to donate to our paw pals in local dog shelters! As part of our Student Volunteering week activities, we will be repurposing old t-shirts into tug toys for dogs to provide enrichment for them whilst they wait to find their forever home.

Wednesday 14th February 2024

Give it a Go – Conservation Crew Tree Planting

10am-4pm

Picton Woodland (transport provided)

Join the TCV team and take part in a rewarding one-off volunteer opportunity to improve our local green spaces and do your bit towards environmental protection.

Give it a Go – Litter Pick with Hedgehog Friendly Campus

12pm-1pm

Garden Quarter and canal (meet outside Binks)

Join Hedgehog Friendly Campus on a Litter Pick and help them create a cleaner environment to aid local wildlife.

Thursday 15th February 2024

Give it a Go – Building Bug Hotels

1:30pm-3:30pm

Grounds and Gardens, Exton Park, Chester Outside the Engineering building.

 

During this activity volunteers will be helping to renovate the nature area next to the engineering block at Exton Park site. This will include:

- building insect hotels so bugs have a purpose-built place to call home

- renovating a damaged hotel that could do with some TLC!

- helping to clear the area of brambles/vegetation

- laying new bark on the ground

- making some new pallet furniture for the area.

Thursday 15th February 2024 Action Tutoring Online Information Session 1:30pm - 2pm
 

Action Tutoring are looking for volunteers to support pupils from low-income backgrounds in English or maths. If you've got an hour a week to spare - they'd love you volunteer with them.

Friday 16th February 2024

Give it a Go – Post Pals Card Writing WARRINGTON

10am-12pm Remond House Common Room, Warrington

Join the Volunteering Team for a Give it a go to bring joy to seriously ill children and their siblings by writing them letters via the charity Postpals. Drop into the Common Room in Remond House to design some cards – we’ll bring the craft supplies!
